Kyiv's IGNEA released Monumental today, October 23, via Napalm Records. The nine-track concept album about nostalgia, modernist architecture and Cold War imagery is now on all streaming platforms, as well as on CD and vinyl.
The band ask listeners to take it in the old-fashioned way: in one sitting, without shuffle and not as background noise. They say they hope the record leaves "a light, gentle sadness, something like nostalgia."
Much of Monumental was recorded in Kyiv during the winter of 2025–2026, in freezing temperatures and through rolling blackouts. The run-up to release brought four videos: "Dreams of Lands Unseen," the ballad "Darkness," the industrial-leaning "Prefab" with Andy LaPlegua of COMBICHRIST, and, a few days ago, "Harmony Manufactured." The band call that one the heaviest and most epic song on the album. It features Britta Görtz of HIRAES on guest vocals.
Next comes the road. In November IGNEA join EVERGREY on the Swedes' "Architects Of A New Weave" European tour, with STELLAR CIRCUITS also on the bill, including UK dates. The band are shipping orders from their own store until November 5 and won't be able to ship anything while the tour lasts. Each order comes with a signed card leading to the Monumental archive, and orders over €100 include personalized photographs of Kyiv architecture.
