IGORRR will headline a European tour in March and early April 2027, Metal Blade Records announced today. The 17-date run opens at Headbang Festival in Aix-en-Provence on March 13 and wraps at La Laiterie in Strasbourg on April 4. SECRET CHIEFS 3, Trey Spruance's long-running experimental outfit, and French sludge crushers FANGE support on all dates.
The trek backs Amen, the latest full-length from French multi-instrumentalist and producer Gautier Serre. He has worked under the IGORRR name for 20 years, and since signing to Metal Blade in 2017 the project has grown from a one-man pseudonym into a full band, with Serre still at the helm. Amen features guest spots from Scott Ian of ANTHRAX and Trey Spruance of MR. BUNGLE, so Spruance's presence on the bill makes for a fitting pairing.
Serre calls Amen the darkest IGORRR record yet. He recorded a real choir in a church and spent a long time on sound design and instrument choices to reach what he describes as a weighty, solemn atmosphere. Lighter, more colorful tracks such as "Blastbeat Falafel" and "ADHD" are there on purpose: Serre compares them to a shot of limoncello before the next course, something that helps the listener stay focused through the heavier stretches.
IGORRR has always drawn as much from Bach and Chopin as from CANNIBAL CORPSE, Aphex Twin and MESHUGGAH. The previous album, Spirituality and Distortion (2020), reached No. 12 on the official German album chart.
