LEX LEGION, With Classic KING DIAMOND Members, Begin Recording Second Album

LEX LEGION, the band that reunites four-fifths of KING DIAMOND's classic late-'80s lineup, are about to start recording their second album. Guitarists Andy La Rocque and Pete Blakk told the Pod Scum podcast that the basics of 10 or 11 songs are already in place, and drummer Mikkey Dee is due in the studio within about two weeks to lay down the first drum tracks.

The lineup is completed by bassist Hal Patino and PAGAN'S MIND vocalist Nils K. Rue. The band's self-titled debut came out in June 2026 via MNRK Music Group.

The working method hasn't changed: La Rocque and Blakk bring in song foundations, Dee comes to La Rocque's studio to arrange and track drums, then Patino and Rue add bass and vocals. La Rocque expects a single or two before the album, but stressed the band will still release a full-length — "we're old-school guys" — and it should run longer than the 37-minute debut, at around 40 to 45 minutes.

"If everything goes well and everything goes the way we want it, I think that the second album could be released maybe August, September next year," La Rocque said. Blakk added that he and La Rocque already have material for at least two more albums beyond this one.

Both guitarists insist the band stands on its own rather than as KING DIAMOND 2.0. "If you listen to the first couple of songs, you will understand that it's not," said La Rocque. Blakk thinks the new record could turn out stronger than the debut.

Touring will wait for more original material: the band currently has only the debut's 37 minutes to draw on, so a headline run makes more sense after album number two, though La Rocque didn't rule out a support slot with a bigger act before then. First up is LEX LEGION's first-ever show, in Gothenburg, Sweden, later this year.
