Lita Ford has signed with Frontiers Music Srl, which will release her first studio album since 2012's Living Like A Runaway. The first single, "Dracula", arrives on October 27.
As on her previous record, guitarist Gary Hoey produced the album and adds some guitar of his own. "Dracula" features Ford, Hoey and drummer Bobby Rock, and was mixed by Max Norman, who produced Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard Of Ozz and co-produced MEGADETH's Rust In Peace. No album title or release date has been announced yet.
Ford calls the new material "this magical dark fairytale album" and says she wanted the right team behind it before releasing it. She signed off her statement in character: "Good night. Goodbye… Prepare to die 'Dracula'!! Brace yourself."
Frontiers Label Group general manager Jeff Stevenson called Ford "a true rock icon" and said the label was most excited that she "continues to look forward creatively."
As we reported in April, Ford has said the album is finished and includes a duet with German metal singer Doro Pesch, as well as a song co-written with Jean Beauvoir (CROWN OF THORNS, PLASMATICS). She has described the record as a concept piece meant to be heard start to finish, in the spirit of the full-length albums she grew up on.
Ford rose to fame as lead guitarist of THE RUNAWAYS before launching a solo career in the 1980s. Her 1988 album Lita produced the hit duet with Ozzy Osbourne, "Close My Eyes Forever", and the single "Kiss Me Deadly".
