METALLICA have released professionally filmed footage of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" from the second night of their "Life Burns Faster" residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, recorded on October 3.
The Master Of Puppets classic sat seventh in a 16-song set that opened with "Blackened" and also featured the live return of "Devil's Dance", unplayed since 2008, and "The Outlaw Torn", back for the first time since 2019. We ran the "Devil's Dance" clip earlier this week, after the band's opening-night videos of "...And Justice For All" and "The Call Of Ktulu".
The residency now totals 24 shows, presented as 12 "No Repeat Weekend" pairs in which the Thursday and Saturday nights share no songs, the same format the band uses on the "M72" world tour. After October, METALLICA return to the venue on November 5 and 7, January 28 and 30, and for four weekends across February and March. The run closes on March 13, 2027.
Sphere, the 17,600-capacity venue near the Las Vegas Strip, is built around a 16K wraparound LED screen and its own immersive sound system. Lars Ulrich has said he knew the band had to play there within seconds of seeing U2 open the venue in 2023.
