MOTHER OF GRAVES have put their third album, The Light That Keeps Us, up to stream in full a day before its release on Friday, October 16, via Profound Lore Records.
We've followed the record since the August announcement and its first single "Through The Pale Shade", and in September the band added the video for "The Silent Weight Of The Stars". Now all eight songs are out in the open: melancholic, romantic melodic doom welded to the weight of death metal, with themes of mortality, sorrow, love and resilience running through it.
The Indianapolis band now works as a five-piece: vocalist and keyboardist Brandon Howe, guitarists Chris Morrison and Ben Sandman, bassist Corey Clark and drummer Don Curtis. Sandman again produced the album himself. Dan Swanö, who has mastered the band's records for years, steps out from behind the console this time to guest on vocals in opener "Wingless Soul" — a full-circle moment for the band.
The Light That Keeps Us follows 2024's The Periapt Of Absence, which landed at No. 11 on Decibel Magazine's albums-of-the-year list. It's out on CD, LP and digital.
