SATANIC PLANET Turn 'Antichrist' Into A 15-Minute Cult-Horror Short Film Ahead Of 'Dead Deities'

SATANIC PLANET have premiered "Antichrist" as a cult-horror short film and music video, roughly 15 minutes of B-movie fever dream built around the second track of their new album Dead Deities. The record arrives October 30 via Relapse Records.

In the running order, "Antichrist" is the moment the album stops brooding. Dead Deities opens with "Damnatio Memoriae", a doomy soundscape of backwards, ritualistic vocals, before "Antichrist" kicks in with a hypnotic, screaming hardcore-leaning intro that sinks into something slow, nasty and heavy. The band's own description is "what pop music might sound like in Hell", and the film leans fully into that.

The lineup remains one of the stranger and more formidable in extreme music: Lucien Greaves, co-founder and spokesperson of The Satanic Temple, on vocals; Luke Henshaw of PLANET B and SONIDO DE LA FRONTERA; Dave Lombardo of SLAYER, MISFITS, MR. BUNGLE and DEAD CROSS; and Justin Pearson of THE LOCUST, SWING KIDS and DEAF CLUB. Dead Deities is the first album the four made together in the same studio, and Greaves calls the material more personal and even more closely tied to the Temple's goals than before.

Across 11 tracks the album pulls in tolling bells, blackened synths, noise interludes and group vocals, with Lombardo's drumming as the heavy anchor. Thematically it is a protest record aimed at autocracy and Christian nationalism.

"Antichrist" follows "Sam Alito's Mom" and "Church Burning", both of which we covered as they landed.
