Swedish black metal outfit SEID will release their sixth full-length, Dystopolis, on December 11 through ATMF, on CD and vinyl LP. The first track from the record, "Wandering the Fields of the Slain", is streaming now on ATMF's Bandcamp.
The Stockholm band grew out of the Viking black metal tradition, and Dystopolis pushes that foundation further than before. The label calls it SEID's most mature, personal and ambitious work to date, blending raw Nordic aggression with progressive song structures, atmospheric stretches and melodic passages.
Thematically, the album sets the old Viking virtues of honor, courage, loyalty, strength and belonging against an impersonal modern world, where people grow anonymous and human contact is filtered through systems, technology and institutions. Ancient values meet modern alienation, and the music follows that tension, shifting between savage blasts and introspective, wide-open passages.
The band is led by mainman Seiðr (vocals), with Pär Johansson on drums and Alex "Phil A. Cirone" Purkis on bass. Herjann Svolnir and John Doe handle guitars as session players. Dystopolis follows Hymns to the Norse, released in October 2024.
