Amor Fati Productions will release Disciples of Void & Fire, the debut album from black metal outfit SENTRIES, on November 4 on CD and vinyl LP. The first track, "Dying Stars and Skies Ablaze", is streaming now on the label's official YouTube channel.
SENTRIES bring together musicians from Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway, and the lineup reads like a who's who of the Low Countries underground. Guitarist and bassist HC plays in OERHEKS, SILVER KNIFE and HÄXENZIJRKELL; drummer MDK is also in SILVER KNIFE and DEADSPEAK; vocalist RH is known from TAUBRĄ and ILHALUNG; and DV, who handles guitars and ambience, comes from WOUDGILDE and QUAET GESPUYS. The members go by initials only.
The label describes the record as firmly rooted in black metal, fast and melodic at once, but never easy on the ear: fierce hatred and mysterious soundscapes, "draped in blood and crawling with infectious melodies." The album is built from six long tracks, each a standalone chapter that links into a whole, with the stated aim of pulling the listener away from reality and into the band's own realm.
"Dying Stars and Skies Ablaze" sits second in the running order. At almost seven minutes, it's typical of an album where every song runs past the five-minute mark, for a total of just over 41 minutes.
