Swiss progressive metal band STEREOPHRENICS have released "State of Paradox", the first single and official lyric video from their debut full-length Paracosm 2.0, due this fall.
The song swings between heavy riffing, sudden dynamic shifts and atmospheric keyboard passages. Vocalist Elisa Colacioppo sings from the point of view of someone fully conscious but trapped inside an unresponsive body, losing movement, speech and control while the fear stays. From that physical paralysis the lyric widens into a reflection on the invisible cages, psychological, social or self-imposed, that people end up accepting as life.
The Geneva band have spent ten years moving between progressive rock, heavy metal and darker, more theatrical ground. The arrival of Colacioppo and bassist and backing vocalist Thijs Kos gave the sound more metallic weight. Guitarist Giovanni Tramparulo, keyboardist Nicola Giandomenico and drummer Valentin Boada complete the lineup.
After two independent EPs, Paracosm 2.0 is their first album. Its eight tracks deal with altered states of consciousness, imaginary worlds, inner escape and the blurred line between perception and reality. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Serge Moratel at REC Studio in Geneva. The band have been with Greensunlight Productions since 2024.
