German heavy metallers STREET JUSTICE are streaming their debut album, Rules Are For Suckers, in full on the NWOTHM Full Albums YouTube channel ahead of its release this Friday, October 23, through Dying Victims Productions.
STREET JUSTICE rose from the ashes of Bavaria's SAVAGE, who released an EP and the well-received Dying Victims album Glory Riders before splitting up. Former SAVAGE members Pawel Nemkovic and Axel Warrior formed the new band to keep chasing what they call "mean heavy metal," and the label promises evolved songwriting with more varied riffs, leads and hooks than before.
The reference points are firmly 1980s Los Angeles: classic W.A.S.P., TWISTED SISTER, QUIET RIOT and early VAN HALEN, with an extra dose of sleaze that recalls L.A. GUNS in their late-'80s prime. A post-apocalyptic wasteland theme runs through the nine tracks, and the band underline it with an unexpected cover: Tina Turner's "One of the Living" from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, reworked into a heavier, dirtier anthem.
The album was produced in collaboration with Sergej Dukart of TYRAN. Tobias Kasper of SWEEPING DEATH recorded the drums, and Marcel Riedel of SURTURIAN has since joined as the band's permanent drummer.
