International prog metal supergroup TEMIC have put their second album Ceiba online in full a day before its release. The 11-track record comes out Friday, October 2 via Season of Mist, and the complete stream is now up on the label's YouTube channel.
Ceiba is a concept album about loss. "While more progressive than our first album, the songs are driven by honesty and emotions," the band says. "They deal with pain, anger, fear, blame and silence, which are all difficult in their own way, but a part of the process to renewing our inner strength." The title refers to the tree held sacred in Mayan culture as the link between the earth, heaven and the underworld.
Fans already know "Ceased to Be," "Broken" and "Ashes," and the full stream now reveals the rest, from the nine-minute "Casting Stone," which throws djent, hard rock and electronics against each other, to the ten-minute closer "As Long As We Last."
We gave Ceiba a 9/10 in our review: for anyone who comes to progressive metal for the songs, this is mandatory listening.
TEMIC — vocalist Fredrik Klemp, guitarist Eric Gillette, keyboardist Diego Tejeida and drummer Simen Sandnes — feature current and former members of DEVIN TOWNSEND's band, Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress, THE NEAL MORSE BAND, HAKEN, SHINING, MARATON and BIG CITY. Their 2023 debut Terror Management Theory topped the charts in the Netherlands.
