Los Angeles crossover outfit TRAPPIST will release a new ten-song EP, Gutter Monks, through Tankcrimes on December 4. The opening track, "Let's Firkin Go!," is streaming now.
True to the band's monastic beer theme, the songs were "barrel-aged." Brothers Vera, Harkins and Dodge recorded Gutter Monks back in 2022, then shelved it for four years before Tankcrimes boss Scotty Heath "tapped the keg" in 2026. The label pitches the result as neither purely hardcore nor purely metal: fast, punishing and more intricate than you might expect.
Gutter Monks arrives in two versions. The 7" holds all ten tracks in a CRASS-style 12-panel foldout poster sleeve, pressed on swamp green (limited to 300) and crystal clear (limited to 500) vinyl. Gutter Monks – Imperial Edition, on CD and digital, runs to 25 tracks: the new EP plus TRAPPIST's sides of their splits with HETZE and CONNOISSEUR, their Decibel Magazine flexi track and one previously unreleased bonus song. Preorders are open.
