Swedish black metal band TROLLDOM released its new album, Tronen ("The Throne"), today, October 30, via Debemur Morti Productions. The label has posted the whole record on YouTube and Bandcamp.
TROLLDOM was founded in 2004 in the woods of Småland by guitarist and composer Swartadauþuz, a busy figure in the Swedish underground who also plays in BEKËTH NEXËHMÜ, MUVITIUM, AZELISASSATH, GREVE and BALWEZO WESTIJIZ. The project took its time getting to a debut. When it finally arrived in 2022, it came as two albums at once: I Nattens Sken (Genom Hemligheternas Dunkel) and Av Gudars Ätt....
Tronen stays with the symphonic, reverent black metal of those records and leans hard on the mid-to-late '90s Swedish sound of SETHERIAL, NAGLFAR, SACRAMENTUM and MÖRK GRYNING. The label calls it Swartadauþuz's most focused and hook-driven work so far, built on melodic leads and big chord progressions. The band describes its mission as an attempt to "unshackle the spirit from false bounds of material existence".
Two guests stand out. Kevin Paradis of BELPHEGOR and MELECHESH handles the drums, and Alex Poole (Graf Nuzawandils) of MARTRÖÐ and SKÁPHE adds the keyboard layers. S. Da Silva mixed and mastered the album.
Tronen is available on CD, on vinyl (including a slipcase edition limited to 100 copies) and digitally.
Tronen track listing:
- Tidens Evighet
- Dräpt ur Dunkel
- I Völvans Spår
- Etter Falla...
- Ulvarnas Kall
- Dödens Släktled Stiga
