Salvadoran black/thrash band WITCHGÖAT will release their third album, Serpent Hordes, on December 4 via Personal Records on CD, with Morbid Skull Records handling the cassette edition. The title track "Serpent Hordes" is streaming now on Personal Records' Bandcamp.
Guitarist P. Scyther, a veteran of the Salvadoran scene since the early '90s, started the band in 2016 with the idea of fusing raw '80s South American and European thrash with the evil melodies of Scandinavian black and blackened death metal. M. Miasma joined soon after and wrote the first occult lyrics — the two each contributed half of the name. Bassist C. Fog and drummer E. Driller completed the lineup in 2017.
After the 2018 demo Umbra Regit and debut album Egregors of the Black Faith, WITCHGÖAT pushed toward purer black metal on Altars of Necromancy (2023), both released by Morbid Skull Records. For Serpent Hordes, recorded in 2025, the band went back to combine the best of both records, sharpening the songwriting and the guitar solos and adding a dose of traditional speed metal. The label points to SWORDMASTER, DISSECTION, LORD BELIAL and Pleasure to Kill-era KREATOR as touchstones. The release also marks the band's 10th anniversary.
