Yngwie Malmsteen has released an official music video for "Beyond Zeta Reticuli", the second single from his new studio album Hell Or High Water. The record is out November 13 via Music Theories Recordings / Artone Label Group.
Where lead single "Now Or Never" showed the vocal side of the album, the new track is pure six-string territory: an instrumental that the Swedish guitarist says grew out of his long-running interest in extraterrestrial life. "Inspired by my fascination with alien life, this instrumental combines big, heavy themes, strong melodies and intricate counterpoint — pure neoclassical fire," Malmsteen says.
"Beyond Zeta Reticuli" is one of two instrumentals on the album named after scientific discoveries; the other is "Antikythera", a nod to the ancient Greek mechanism often called the first analog computer. The nine-track set also features the instrumental "Am Caprice/Hell Or High Water" and closes with "Father", which Malmsteen wrote in tribute to his late father, who died last year.
As with 2021's Parabellum, Malmsteen wrote the album at home without breaking off for touring. He spent eight months on the material, finishing 80 to 90 pieces before narrowing them down to the strongest nine.
We covered the album announcement and the first single, "Now Or Never", back in August.
