Masked producer and DJ ZARDONIC has released "Godhead Interface", a collaboration with FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares and Venezuelan vocalist Daniel "Kaio" Soto of PROTOPIG. The track is the lead single from Digicide, ZARDONIC's fifth studio album, which arrives on March 12, 2027 via Phobos/MMC.
The song pairs machine-like bass with Cazares' trademark industrial riffing, and Soto handles the vocals in a full death metal register. ZARDONIC frames Digicide as a concept record aimed at algorithmic control, surveillance capitalism and the erosion of human identity. He calls it the hardest body of work he has ever put together, born of traumatic personal experiences and months of reading about how these systems work. He compares the moment it clicked to Roddy Piper's character putting on the glasses in They Live: once he saw it, he couldn't stop seeing it.
The connection with FEAR FACTORY goes back a while. Cazares points out that ZARDONIC worked on the band's Recoded album, and says he brought him back to add synths and electronics to a couple of tracks on the new FEAR FACTORY material. Joining "Godhead Interface" was, in Cazares' words, "a no-brainer". Soto and ZARDONIC have known each other since the early 2000s Venezuelan metal scene, where Soto was once his mentor; today they are production partners.
Digicide is stacked with guests. MAYHEM frontman Attila Csihar appears on "Dehumanize" alongside Charles "Ghul" Hedger, while Liv Sin shares "From The Ashes" with NEUROKLAST. The album follows Vulgar Display Of Bass (2012), Antihero (2015), Become (2018) and Superstars (2023).
