West Coast death metal cult ASCENDED DEAD released Live Apocalypse today, November 6, through Carbonized Records. The record is out on CD, LP, cassette and digital, and the full album is streaming now.
Live Apocalypse was captured straight off the soundboard during the band's American Apocalypse Tour in May 2024, then mixed and mastered for release. According to the band, the recording marks a return to the old Marshall tone of their early years while keeping the increasingly violent, unrestrained approach of their two full-lengths. Steven Jackson engineered it, drummer Charlie Koryn handled the mix, Greg Wilkinson mastered it, and Kyle Bowen did the artwork.
Formed in 2011 in Southern California, ASCENDED DEAD set out to play death metal the dark, primitive and chaotic way, taking their cues from early POSSESSED, NECROVORE and VENOM. Their 2017 debut Abhorrent Manifestation took them beyond the local underground, and Evenfall Of The Apocalypse (2023) pushed that vision furthest yet. The lineup is now spread between Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.
The band has toured hard: a full US run in 2024, European tours in 2019, 2023 and 2024, and dates across Southeast Asia and Australia in 2025. Festival stops have included Maryland Deathfest, California Deathfest, Covenant Fest, Famine Fest, Chaos Descends, Kill-Town Death Fest, Total Death Over Mexico and Invoking Black Death Fest.
