AVGRUM will release their debut album, Womb Of Death, on January 12, 2027 through W.T.C. Productions. The record arrives on CD, vinyl LP and cassette, and the first track, "Born Of The Rope", is now streaming on the label's official YouTube channel.
AVGRUM is the creation of Abraxas Nox, who conceived it as a vehicle for exploring death and the journeys and inspiration that come from immersing oneself in it. The project has been a long time coming: a first demo, also titled Womb Of Death, surfaced in 2017, but the final shaping of the full-length only began in 2022. That is when Nox brought in drummer Flo Musil, known for his work with THEOTOXIN, THE NEGATIVE BIAS and AGRYPNIE, among others. The two recorded the album at Necromorbus Studios.
Musically, the label places AVGRUM firmly in the 1990s, and specifically in the Swedish school of swirling, nocturnal melody. Nox handles the guitars and a clearly enunciated snarl, building long, undulating waves of riffing that keep cresting and breaking, while Musil balances controlled violence with technique that serves the songs, steering the dynamics and playing counterpoint to the guitar lines. W.T.C. Productions stresses that the album keeps a unified mood while covering fairly wide ground, and that the crisp production sharpens the songs without taking the edge off.
