BURN ETERNAL, the project that reunites singer Howard Jones and guitarist/producer Adam Dutkiewicz, will release its self-titled debut album on February 26, 2027 via Metal Blade Records. The first single, "Wounds I've Made", is out now with a lyric video.
Jones says the song is about owning up to past mistakes and regrets while still moving forward: change can hurt, but it's needed to grow and not get stuck in the past, and some relationships simply aren't meant to be. Dutkiewicz points out how long the track has been waiting: it was one of the first songs he wrote for the project, six years ago.
When we reported on the project's launch last month, there was no title or date yet. Now there is a full picture: nine songs, cover art by Travis Smith, and several vinyl variants, including TalkShop Live and Metal Injection exclusives.
The pair defined KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's 2002–2012 era, the years of The End of Heartache and the platinum-selling As Daylight Dies. The new band grew out of a dinner in the UK while KILLSWITCH ENGAGE were supporting IRON MAIDEN: Jones asked Dutkiewicz if he had any riffs to sing over, and the two started writing and demoing with no label deal and no deadline. Jones calls it "a longstanding itch, you finally got to scratch", while Dutkiewicz says Howard came into the sessions "just like an open book", willing to try every idea.
