Children Of Bodom Hate Crew – A Visual History, a 240-page illustrated book charting more than three decades of the Finnish melodic death metal band, will be published in April 2027 by Finnish publisher Like Kustannus, in simultaneous Finnish and English editions.
The book is compiled by Finnish music journalist and author Timo Isoaho, whose biography Children Of Bodom came out in 2025 and saw the band members tell their story in detail for the first time — from the rise to international success to the internal tensions behind the 2019 split. The new volume stands on its own but also works as a visual companion to that biography.
It follows the band from its early days as INEARTHED onwards and is packed with previously unpublished photos, rare archive material, personal memories and interview excerpts. Expect backstage passes, setlists, childhood photos of the members, early demo artwork and a look behind the scenes of recording sessions and tours. The book also covers the friendships inside the band and the growth of its international fan base, the "Hate Crew".
The English edition will be sold exclusively through the official CHILDREN OF BODOM Hate Crew store, run by German label Reaper Entertainment, which handles worldwide direct-to-consumer distribution. The U.S. shop is set to open pre-orders within days.
CHILDREN OF BODOM released ten studio albums before calling it a day; frontman and main songwriter Alexi Laiho died in December 2020. This February, Henkka Seppälä, Janne Wirman, Jaska Raatikainen and early guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, joined by Samy Elbanna of LOST SOCIETY, played two "Celebration Of Music" shows at Tavastia in Helsinki, and the lineup has already announced more than a dozen festival appearances for 2027, including TUSKA.
