Finnish death metal band GARDEN OF STONE have released "Satumaa-tango," the fourth and final single from their second album, For the World of the Obsolete, along with an official music video. The album arrives on December 11 via Inverse Records.
The single is a heavy reworking of "Satumaa-tango," the 1999 debut single from Finnish singer-songwriter Maija Vilkkumaa and one of the best-known Finnish pop hits of its era. GARDEN OF STONE keep the structure of Vilkkumaa's song intact but drive it with relentless double bass and screamed vocals, folding in their own mix of heavy and death metal. Janne Lehto arranged the track, and Joona Muistola mixed and mastered it at HAW Studios.
The cover also closes the new record. For the World of the Obsolete runs ten tracks, was mixed and mastered by Muistola, and carries artwork by Matias Stenman. While the band call themselves death metal "for convenience's sake," they pull from rock, shoegaze, melodic death, black metal and prog, moving between blast beats, groove and melodic passages.
