IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT Sign To Metal Blade Records, Finish Tracking New Album

New York City's IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT have signed with Metal Blade Records. The masked trio has already finished tracking its first album for the label, with more details promised in the coming months.

The band has spent the last decade blurring black metal, death metal, jazz and modern classical into something that sounds like nowhere but Manhattan at its most decadent. Vile Luxury (2018), Alphaville (2020), Spirit Of Ecstasy (2022) and last year's Goldstar (2025) each pushed that sound further, and the new record continues a long partnership with producer and engineer Colin Marston, who is recording and mixing it. Marston has worked with the band since its earliest days and once said the group had developed its playing and tones to the point where the music itself supplies all the "necessary strangeness".

In a statement, the band called the deal "a new covenant with the illustrious Metal Blade Records", describing the label as "the top floor of the recording label tower" with a view that is "quite nice". They added that new music is flowing and that fans can expect "fresh decadence" sooner rather than later.

To mark the signing, artist Noah Cutter Meihoff designed a limited-edition shirt that mashes up the classic Metal Blade axe logo with the band's trademark mask.

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT have been on the road a lot in 2026: a Latin American run with CYNIC was followed by an extensive US tour with BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, with FALLUJAH on much of the bill. Later this month they head back to Europe and the UK for 21 dates with KNOLL.
