New Jersey death metal trio OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS have released a music video for "Illuminating In Pain," the closing track of their Nexus EP. The clip premiered today on Slam Worldwide, and the six-track EP is out now digitally via Bleeding Art Collective.
According to the band, the song is drummer Kedwin Ramirez's piece, one he had kept in reserve for a while before the EP gave him the right place to show his style. They describe it as "a message from a world beyond ours, a warning of something wicked to come," and note that it leans back toward the symphonic side heard on their earlier releases.
Nexus follows the band's 2022 debut album Unrecognizable and the 2025 singles "Nexus" and "Doomed," whose video passed 129K views on Slam Worldwide. The trio blends European melodic death metal, djentcore and New York death metal with heavy grooves and breakdowns. The EP was mixed and mastered by Dave Ricco of FACE YOURSELF. We covered the EP's announcement and the "Ash Hoarder" video back in September.
