SABATON are giving Legends a second life. The Swedish band will release a deluxe edition of their eleventh studio album on March 5, 2027 via Better Noise Music, and they have kicked off the campaign with a brand-new song, "Berserker", out now with a lyric video.
After a full album spent touring the great generals and conquerors of world history, SABATON turn back to their own backyard. "Berserker" draws on Scandinavian lore and the legend of the berserker at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, the 1066 clash that closed the Viking Age in England. According to the band, the song was started a few years ago and kept on the shelf until it felt ready.
Bassist Pär Sundström says the theme picked itself: the song "breathes Scandinavian influences," so a Viking story came naturally, and its closeness to the band's own roots and history gave it a special meaning for them.
A full animated video for "Berserker", featuring actor Eric Roberts, premieres on Monday, November 9 at 6 a.m. PST / 9 a.m. EST / 3 p.m. CET. It intercuts the present with the memory of that battle, in the tradition of the blockbuster-style clips the band has been making for years.
Legends (Deluxe) adds four tracks to the original 2025 running order: "Berserker", "Champion Of Christ", and the guest versions of "Templars" with POP EVIL's Leigh Kakaty — which we covered when the band sprang it on the Louder Than Life crowd in September — and "Crossing The Rubicon" with NOTHING MORE. It will be issued digitally and in a long list of physical formats, from a deluxe CD and a 3CD digibook to several 2LP variants (including indie-exclusive "Berserker" and "Stephen The Great" editions) and a box set with exclusive content.

The announcement lands as SABATON head out on "Legends On Tour", their first U.S. run in four years, with POP EVIL and WINGS OF STEEL in support. Looking further ahead, Joakim Brodén said in September that he already has "some fun ideas" for album number twelve, though the band has yet to pick a theme.
