SUICIDE SILENCE Guitarist Mark Heylmun Sits Out 'Reminders Of Hell' Tour To Focus On Sobriety

SUICIDE SILENCE guitarist Mark Heylmun is sitting out the band's fall 2026 'Reminders Of Hell' tour in order to prioritize his sobriety and mental health. He announced the decision on social media on Saturday, November 7, one day after the run opened in Riverside, California.

The tour, with EMMURE, ANGELMAKER and SYNESTIA in support, continues through December 13, when it wraps up in Los Angeles. A fill-in guitarist, whom Heylmun thanked simply as Jordan, is covering his parts on the road.

Heylmun stressed that this is not a departure. In his statement he said he is "not stepping away" from SUICIDE SILENCE and will stay involved behind the scenes, but admitted that touring has always been a hard environment for him and that "some things need to change" if he wants to keep doing this for years. He also acknowledged the timing is tough, with a new record about to land, and said he needs "a solid foundation" in his sobriety before he can confidently get back on stage. He closed by thanking the fans and his bandmates for standing behind him, promising to "come back stronger than ever."

That record is Graceless, the deathcore pioneers' eighth studio album, due November 20 via Century Media. We've been following its rollout since the band named it in September, including the single "Make Your Exit."

It's not the first lineup shuffle of the year for the Riverside band. In January, SUICIDE SILENCE brought in Ian Waye (SOREPTION) to fill in for guitarist Chris Garza while Garza took a hiatus. Drummer Ernie Iniguez, who played on Become The Hunter, has been behind the kit since longtime drummer Alex Lopez left in 2022. Vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida (ALL SHALL PERISH) has fronted the band since 2013, following the death of original singer Mitch Lucker.

We wish Mark all the best.
