German black metal band THE GREAT SEA will release their second album, Silent Feeble Cries, on January 29, 2027 via AOP Records. The opening track, "Thirteen Moons", is out now as a music video and features guest vocals from Pelle Åhman, formerly of IN SOLITUDE.
Directed by David Gregory, the video was shot in the Scottish Highlands, and the band stresses that it relies on the landscape itself rather than effects or AI-generated imagery.
THE GREAT SEA were founded in 2022 by Janosch Rathmer and Stefan Hackländer. Their 2025 debut Noble Art of Desolation did well with the German press, and the band went on to debut live at Prophecy Fest 2025 in the Balver Höhle cave and play Rock Hard Festival 2026. The new record pushes the aggression further while leaving more room for melancholy. Lead vocalist A. is again joined by guests Azathoth (GRÀB, ex-DARK FORTRESS) and Phil "sG" Jonas (CRONE, ex-SECRETS OF THE MOON), with Åhman as the new addition.
Lyrically, Silent Feeble Cries returns to humanity's bond with nature: where we came from, where we end up, and the cycle of growth and decay in between. Drums, bass and most vocals were tracked in the band's own studio in Germany, while guitars and keyboards were recorded in a remote cabin in snowy Sweden near lakes Vänern and Vättern. Rathmer recorded, produced and mixed the album without any drum samples, and Tom Porcell mastered it. Cover art is by Benjamin König / Sperber Illustrationen.
