Los Angeles blackened melodic death metal band THROWN INTO EXILE have released a new single, "Remorse", featuring a guest guitar solo from ARCH ENEMY's Michael Amott. It is the band's second release for BLKIIBLK and comes with a music video.
The collaboration grew out of the road: THROWN INTO EXILE are currently on tour supporting ARCH ENEMY and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. Amott says he has watched the band "steadily grow over the last couple of years," so when guitarist Mario Rubio offered him a solo spot, teaming up with his tourmates was "a no-brainer." Rubio, for his part, calls Amott "the master of melodies" and describes trading leads with him as an honor.
The ties between the two camps already run deep — last month THROWN INTO EXILE drummer Hank Lin stepped in for an ill Daniel Erlandsson at ARCH ENEMY's show in Tempe, Arizona.
Lyrically, the band describes "Remorse" as a personal song about how much of yourself you pour into something that only leaves you where you started, and about carrying the weight of past mistakes and things that could have been handled better.
The track is also another showcase for new vocalist Josh Santos, whose arrival comes as the band sharpens a sound that mixes urgent riffing with American and European melodic death metal. THROWN INTO EXILE have built their name on relentless touring with the likes of ARCH ENEMY, ORBIT CULTURE, AT THE GATES, DETHKLOK and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, plus festival slots including Bloodstock in the U.K. More new music is promised for 2027.
