Southern California brutal death metal band VIROLOGIST have released an official music video for "Maimed By The Therianthrope". It's the second single from Subjugation Of Anthropoid Forms, the band's debut full-length, which New Standard Elite will release on November 13. The clip premiered with Decibel Magazine.
The song sits fourth on an eight-track record that runs a tight 27 minutes. It follows the first single, "Opium-Induced Extrasensory Entrancement", which features guest vocals from Ayato Yabuki. The album's release lines up with New Standard Elite's SoCal Brutal Death Fest in El Monte, California, on November 13–14.
VIROLOGIST began in 2023 as the project of then-17-year-old guitarist Emrys Mellinger. The band self-produced the new album, writing, recording and mixing it in a frantic three months this summer, with Mellinger and drummer Ethan Shadman doing much of the writing in marathon sessions at their rehearsal space in Oxnard. Vocalist Daniel Esquivel and returning bassist Sam Little complete the album lineup. Jamie King mastered the record, and the artwork is by Andy Dicochea.
In 2027 the band head to Europe: as we reported last week, they're booked for Nice To Eat You Deathfest in Czechia (May 13–15) and Switzerland's Rock The Hell Fest (May 21–22), with more European dates to come. Fans of DEEDS OF FLESH, DEFEATED SANITY and MORTAL DECAY, take note.
