Oakland blackened death-thrash outfit VORLUST have signed with Bay Area label Tankcrimes and marked the deal with a brand-new stand-alone single, "Pleasure Drive," streaming now.
Founded in 2018 by vocalist and bassist Marcelle Marais, better known as Cunnus, VORLUST call their sound "beast metal": feral, filthy and built around the violence, ecstasy, sexuality and madness of being human, with live shows framed as ritual exorcisms. The current lineup draws on members of NECROT, DIPYGUS, BONESTRIPPER, NITE and VASTUM.
Tankcrimes boss Scotty Heath says he is "beyond thrilled" to bring the band aboard, calling Cunnus the creative visionary behind beast metal and her band a "wild and feral" pack of blackened death metal thrashers "off the streets of Oakland." He also points out a familiar face: lead guitarist Sonny Reinhardt, whom he has worked with for more than a decade in NECROT and has known for 25 years.
Cunnus sums up the new track as "a speeding ticket into soaking wet ecstasy," adding: "Embrace the filth and crank it up!"
"Pleasure Drive" is also available as a crystal-clear, square lathe-cut 7" in a full-color double-sided sleeve, limited to 100 copies, from the Tankcrimes webshop.
The single is a first taste of what's next: VORLUST are finalizing their upcoming full-length, Wet With Filth, which is scheduled for an early spring release. It follows 2022's Lick The Flesh.
