My introduction to this project by the well-known NOKTURNAL MORTUM leader Varggoth was rather peculiar. On practically every Western forum and chat room dedicated to heavy music, when I asked what they considered modern true black metal, everyone unanimously named NOKTURNAL MORTUM and ARYAN TERRORISM! It is, however, devilishly gratifying that Ukrainians are known and appreciated around the world. This album, so far the first and only one, was released on the American label Resistance Records LLC — note: not here at home, but in America.
Having heard such acclaim for this project, I wanted to find out what the Westerners consider "true." I tried to find it at local market stalls, but nobody had heard of it. I had to resort to the internet and downloaded it from some guy in Australia(!).
Yeah... this is true! The material, as I learned from unverified sources, was recorded at home, and so what we get is a sound that couldn't be more true :). I think everyone understands how much extra noise that adds and what the recording quality is like in such circumstances :). However, as we know, few fans pay attention to that. So then, the music — furious true black metal, and judging by the lyrics (you can tell from the song titles :)), this creation belongs to the NSBM (national-socialistic black metal) style. Though one gets the impression that the track "National Socialistic Call" ended up here by accident — this is no longer black metal, it's some kind of hardcore or something close to it (incidentally, this composition is the one I liked the most). I must say, this album held a place in my personal TOP 10 for quite a long time.
All in all, the recording quality certainly leaves much to be desired, and my diagnosis is: black metallers who support the NS movement — mandatory listening; black metallers who don't — recommended listening (later you'll be able to brag that you've heard the most true band in the world :)); for everyone else, this is unlikely to be their cup of tea. And that's that. WP! ;)
