I was flipping channels on my TV the other day and stopped on a music channel — the Ukrainian Enter. I stopped because they were showing performances by several bands at the famous British Glastonbury festival. Calm, melodic rock performed by those groups really appealed to me. Why am I telling you all this? Because when I started listening to this four-track promo from the British-Israeli project BLACKFIELD, I immediately recalled that moment.

The idea for a joint project between two musicians — Steve from London and Aviv from Tel Aviv (sorry for the pun) — was born in 2000. A year passed and it became clear that the project had legs! So the duo set about writing a full-length album. Despite the great distances separating the musicians, by August of this year the album was already out on Snapper Music as a worldwide release, and domestically on Soyuz.

Unfortunately, I only have the 4-track sampler in hand. But how beautiful BLACKFIELD's music is! Melodic and melancholic rock that somewhat resembles the most tranquil material of PINK FLOYD. Admittedly, "Black Field's" compositions are less complex, which lends them a lightness — they simply float in the air... But despite their lightness, they still carry a certain weight for the listener, evoking spiritual weariness rather than relief. Hurry up and get your hands on this masterpiece! I hope you make it in time!
