More than anything, BLOODRAIN's music reminded me of the good old German thrashers KREATOR and DESTRUCTION during the peak of their most vicious era. But since this is officially labeled black metal, the resemblance to the aforementioned monsters is actually a compliment. The drums here are certainly more punishing, and there are no shredding solos, but the spirit of genuine malice from those years (which many of today's black metal acts sorely lack) is present in full force. Worth noting are the clever and interesting arrangements as well. But there's one big "BUT": the band sings in russian, and the vocals are fairly (as much as possible) intelligible. You can actually make out the lyrics. And those lyrics are an absolute disaster -- juvenile Satanism in the vein of KORROZIA METALLA, plus references to "guests from the Caucasus" who supposedly won't let the great russian people live in peace. Honestly -- the whole impression is ruined immediately! The tracklist is not included on the disc, because that's "trve."
