This band features a guy from Nasum. This band combines elements of melodic death metal, sludge, progressive metal, and metalcore in their music. This band has been around since 1993. They have appeared a couple of times on splits with other sludge acts. All of this, of course, is merely "secondary characteristics" — what matters to us are the objective, musical qualities of the band and the album in question. Well then, let's return to statement number two. A combination of styles and their elements that seems insane at first glance yet crystallizes into a perfectly coherent picture on the very first listen — astonishing in its beauty. There are two main pillars. Progressive metal — elegant, intricate, intelligent, and refined. Metalcore — furious, frantic (but not rabid). Everything else is carefully and masterfully threaded onto these two columns with a skill worthy of the finest craftsmen. Here you'll find the heavy guitar chug and the occasional growling inherited from melodic death metal, along with a sparse, viscous sadness that comes from the sludge component. However, no matter how hard I try to describe the album's music in technical terms, I won't even come close to the reality. So I'll be banal: this album needs to be heard. Heard and marveled at.
