Another skeleton from grandma's closet. It took Chuck two years to break away from the raw juvenility of "Scream Bloody Gore," and perhaps the most radical measure the Master undertook on that journey was a purge within the band's ranks. As a result, three members (read: everyone except the ringleader) were left behind. Having recruited new musicians, the maestro resumed his path toward the heights of mastery -- "Leprosy" presents the same familiar death-thrash, but played with greater understanding and malicious glee.

The scrawny skeleton from the "Scream Bloody Gore" cover was replaced by a leper covered in sores and scabs, shuffling across a waterless desert -- an image that precisely describes Schuldiner's musical autism. This reissue is primarily intended for those tired of listening to their beloved album from worn-out tapes, yet whose conscience won't allow them to buy the Master's creations in mp3. Musical anthropologists will also find plenty of interest here. As for progressive snobs, SLIPKNOT fans, and girls in love with Ville Valo, I would recommend abstaining from purchasing this release.
