Canadian extremists DESPISED ICON aren't particularly well known in our parts, so it's worth shedding some light on their work.
The second album, The Healing Process, is a wildly twisted blend of brutal death, grind, but with a strong core component at its foundation. After the first listen, the schizoids CEPHALIC CARNAGE and tech death specialists NEURAXIS came to mind, but the parallels here are quite tenuous.
The Healing Process delights us with its diversity and variety: high-speed grind hysteria gives way to brutal grooves with guttural growls and deathcore hook-laden outbursts with pig squeal vocals, then all of this marvelously blends together in various proportions, slows down, and takes off again.
The album is divided into 9 tracks with a total running time of 32 minutes, so you won't have time to get tired, but the energy charge contained on this disc will last you a long while.
The album is excellently produced and recorded — a fine example of new wave extreme metal.
