This album isn't the most successful entry in the Immortals' discography -- it's more of a transitional work between the former black metal past and a new direction that blends death and black metal. The trademark black metal sound is already absent here; the guitars are too crisp. Strangely, the songs differ noticeably from one another in terms of production -- there were most likely some issues in the studio. Abbath himself admitted that Blizzard Beasts didn't turn out the way he wanted. Still, the album doesn't deserve heavy criticism, as there are excellent compositions here -- Mountains Of Might, for instance. I'll give it an 8 without any hesitation.
