The former Eastern Bloc countries of Eastern Europe are urgently making up for lost time when it comes to heavy metal. Romania is no exception, although until recently the country remained a blank spot on my map (with the possible exception of NEGURA BUNGET, and even that only thanks to the ex-vocalist of AGATHODAEMON). But as it turns out, the metal scene there is alive and increasingly gaining recognition in Europe. KRATOS are not exactly a young band, but only now are people starting to talk about them as "GOTHIC METAL FROM ROMANIA" (just like that, in capital letters). Of course, there is no shortage of bands of this ilk — atmospheric keyboards, female vocals, male vocals (both growled and clean), sorrow (enough to make you want to hang yourself), similarities to early TRISTANIA, early THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, and (a nod to the genre) PARADISE LOST. Gothic metal fans should definitely enjoy this; for everyone else, it's a matter of taste. The promo includes a media track with photos, biography, and other essential information. A full-length album featuring this material is expected in the near future.
