Voronezh-based MYSTICAL GATE recorded their third album "In Sadness Gloom" back in the summer of 1996 at NMLK studio. After an unsuccessful collaboration with the Ural-based label Undead Wood Productions, the disc finally saw the light of day 8 years later, in October 2004, courtesy of Stygian Crypt Productions.

"In Sadness Gloom" is over an hour of mystic doom metal. This is music for those who yearn with all their soul to see the most beautiful places on Earth where no human foot has trod. The music is slow, melodic, with keyboards dominating, and one track flows smoothly into the next. "In Sadness Gloom" is pleasant to relax and unwind to.

The booklet is designed more than admirably. The cover depicts a young man bowing before the might of Mother Nature. Inside the booklet, you will find a series of photographs of the musicians themselves.

The work is good! If only the tracks were shorter (there are 8 of them with an average duration of 10 minutes) and the music more varied, then one would have the stamina to listen to the album from beginning to end without skipping from one track to another.
