NEITHER

A three-song demo from American band NEITHER can by no means be called "nothing special." This black metal formation has shown that it doesn't suffer from a lack of ideas, which is why the music turned out quite diverse: characteristic black metal guitars and drums intertwine with death metal elements and a "beautiful" keyboard backdrop. The vocalist "sings" superbly — the vocal range is very pleasing (clean voice, screaming, grim, and growl in various combinations). The only unclear aspect is the recording quality — sometimes the vocals are too buried, while the drums are pushed too far forward. But hey, who cares — the demo is still a captivating listen from start to finish (perhaps because there are only three tracks?). The standout track is "Halo of Insecns," where all the aforementioned elements are perfectly balanced. If the band continues to develop along the same path, everything will be just fine.
