The sounds of a digging stick breaking through turf, songs of Celtic groves and the cascading ornamentation of the Baroque, the industrial roar of the 21st century, intricate prog-rock 7/8 time signatures and plain 4/4, the best of electronic music, everything fresh and uncharted in heavy music, imperceptible computer embellishments and soulful live sound. Breakneck sprints and long, viscous descents into an otherworldly gloom, grimaces of joy, stabs of pain, dryness and cynicism, genuine romance. Answers to questions and questions to answers, grand scale, elaborate conceptualism, problems of evolution and electromagnetic field theory implemented in lyrics written in languages either long forgotten or not yet invented. Programming and natural experience, hypotheses, assumptions, confirmations and refutations arising from context. All of this is the new PAIN OF SALVATION album — an avant-garde piece with a multitude of characters that was already performed on the theatrical stage last summer. "Be" is something boundless and flexible at the same time. An entire Universe — a macrocosm within a microcosm — that has sprouted from an academic seed into a phenomenon of the transcendental world.
