It's no secret that as metal has declined in recent years, electronics have tightened their extreme bandoliers. SKINNY PUPPY walked the path of crossing dance-floor beats with aggressive rock from the very beginning, dissolving trance loops in a maelstrom of industrial distortion. Dark electro with roots in the '80s sounds fresh and original on "The Greater Wrong Of The Right." Cold noise (the familiar hum of office equipment?) knocks your consciousness out, while incidental atmospheric accents do the opposite -- bathing it in divine nectar. One moment it seems like someone nearby is taking their first steps in Fruity Loops, and the next -- you're Tarantino's Destiny, sitting with the radio on, catching transmissions from other worlds. The latter, incidentally, is especially vivid on the final track, "DaddyuWarbash" -- bleak and hopeless. Probably something similar resonates in the hum of high-voltage power lines at the edge of human auditory perception. From the first track to the last -- a remarkable album. Investigate immediately!
