Following magnificent black ambient of VINTERRIKET Oskorei Music presents us another original release - re-released SOLSTAFIR MCD supplemented with two bonus tracks, thick booklet and notes on each track telling us about history of each song. Most true black bands try to show their best with painted faces, Satan slogans and dirty sound. Most Viking metal bands smarten themselves up with armor, legendary pseudonyms and rune columns. And all these tricks don't seem to work. SOLSTAFIR originate form Iceland which is far more Northwards but the guys didn't resort to hauberks or swards getting concentrated onto music. Lyrically they are on the right way as well using ancient Iceland poetry and native language. Vocal is muted a bit which suits the image of vast frost expanses. Guitars sound clear enough and drums are rare with double kicks yet very musical being a valuable independent instrument. That's what the Icelanders do.
