In August 2007, THROWDOWN's latest album "Venom & Tears" is being released. In connection with this, I have before me a 13-minute promo consisting of three songs. The first track, "Holy Roller," gave me hope more than ever, because despite the absolutely unremarkable vocal line, thrash riffs can be heard very clearly. However, hopes that the new album would absorb the best that American thrash metal has given to the world of heavy music are shattered with the start of the second track — this is pure hardcore in the vein of HATEBREED — in other words, nothing new. On one hand, there may be certain positives in this, as the band continues to create within their established repertoire. On the other hand, it's the same old tune and nothing new. The third song continues the hardcore sound, though a decent solo does appear at the end of the track. Apparently, we can conclude that the release will once again be very heavy and aggressive hardcore, played with sufficient technicality, possibly with some thrash elements.
