The title speaks for itself when it comes to the stylistic direction of the music performed by the Finnish collective TURISAS. Honestly, I waited for this album for over half a year. And I'm very glad the result didn't disappoint! Folk/battle metal from these Finns is simply magnificent. Majestic music calling warriors to march, reminding them of their homeland during distant campaigns. In addition to the standard metal instruments (guitar, bass, drums), the album recording employed tambourine, accordion, violin, rattles, a shaman drum, and a range of other folk percussion. Three types of vocals — clean, scream, and female — as well as a small choir of all band members imitating brave Vikings. And in the booklet itself, beautifully designed by master Niklas Sundin, you can see the musicians of TURISAS striking down their enemies. In the traditional thank-you section, widely known representatives of the Finnish folk metal scene are mentioned: ENSIFERUM, MOONSORROW, FINNTROLL, KORPIKLAANI.
So, an hour of excellent folk/war metal awaits you. The horns are calling to battle!
