KOMUTATOR

Thrash Metal
Ozimek, Opole, 🇵🇱Poland Formed in 2006

KOMUTATOR formed in 2006 in Ozimek, a small town in Poland's Opole region, around guitarist Michał "Kinder" Kowalski. The band built their name the hard way, through the Polish underground: demos Killing Madness (2008) and Killing in Madness (2009), a slot on the Thrashing Damnation Thru Compilation vol. 2 (2013) with "Born to Sin" and "Malapane Valley Thrashers", and finally the self-released debut full-length Mental Sadism in 2013 — riff-driven, old-school thrash with no interest in polish or compromise.

Then came the silence. The band went dormant in 2014 and stayed that way for a decade, resurfacing only in 2024. What followed was not a nostalgia lap: recorded across multiple sessions between 2024 and 2026 at Heinrich House Studio and Turnia Studio (Halny), second album We Don't Owe You Anything is the most varied music KOMUTATOR have made, pushing relentless thrash aggression up against passages of melancholy, tension and reflection. Filip Hałucha (BAALZAGOTH, BEHEMOTH, DEUS MORTEM) mixed and mastered it at Heinrich House.

Where the early material dealt in evil and war, the new record turns on humanity's self-inflicted decline — not apocalypse, but the everyday choices that erode values, freedom and identity, in a world where people are treated as resources rather than individuals. The line-up now features vocalist Jacek Zema, guitarists Kowalski and Maciek Zalsiński, and drummer Andrzej Halupczok, with guest turns from Wojciech Kostrzewa (ASGAARD), Szczepan Inglot (WOLFPACK HEADING NOWHERE) and Jacek Hiro (SCEPTIC). Polish label Via Nocturna releases the album on 18 September 2026.
