Finnish melodic death metal veterans INSOMNIUM have announced their tenth studio album, "Netherworlds," due October 16 via Century Media, and shared the record's new single, "Gleam In The Black," alongside a music video directed by Patric Ullaeus of rEvolver Film Company AB.

"Being one of the faster songs on the new album, this is a track that should get the crowd moving when played live," vocalist and bassist Niilo Sevänen said of the single. "It definitely carries a classic INSOMNIUM spirit. The lyrics tell a dark and mysterious love story, capturing the mood and atmosphere of the entire album."

"Netherworlds" was shaped with producer Miiro Varjus playing a central role in its creation, and was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren — the same team behind some of extreme metal's most polished modern productions. "Gleam In The Black" marks the second single revealed from the album, following an earlier preview track.

Formed in Joensuu, Finland, INSOMNIUM has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of melodic death metal's most consistent and atmospheric acts, balancing melancholic melody with driving aggression across a catalog that has grown increasingly ambitious with each release. The band's current lineup features Ville Friman and Tomy Laisto alongside Sevänen, guitarist Markus Vanhala and drummer Markus Hirvonen, with Friman, Laisto and Vanhala all contributing clean vocals alongside Sevänen's harsh delivery.

With "Netherworlds" marking a milestone tenth full-length, INSOMNIUM appears positioned to extend a discography that has rarely wavered in quality, with "Gleam In The Black" offering an early, propulsive glimpse of what the album has in store ahead of its October release.
