English instrumental progressive/math rock quartet POLY-MATH have released a multi-camera live studio video for "No Such Thing As Now," the second single from their fifth album, Something Deeply Hidden, released in April on The Lasers Edge.
"During our European tour for our new album, Something Deeply Hidden, we spent a couple of days at RAMA Studios in Mannheim recording a live session version of the album's second single, 'No Such Thing As Now,'" says bassist Joe Branton. "It was really special to get to visit RAMA. We've been friends with the studio owner, Toby Schwarz, for a few years, so it was great to actually go there. RAMA is an amazing recording space built into an old butter factory on the outskirts of Mannheim. It's full of really random old butter factory memorabilia and loads of great recording gear. They host a YouTube channel called Melting Butter Sessions where they showcase different bands performing live at the studio, so we had a great time being a part of that."
Based in Brighton and London, POLY-MATH draw on early classic prog, Ethio-jazz, post-rock, and math rock, having explored different genres and identities across five albums, two side-project lockdown albums, and numerous EPs.
Something Deeply Hidden was mixed by Mark Roberts, mastered by Chris Muth, and features additional guitar on "Terror Management Theory" by Ben Harris and additional music on "The Universe As An Engine," the album's lead single, by C. A. Walters. Fans of KING CRIMSON, THE MARS VOLTA, BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS, DYSRHYTHMIA, BATTLES, and AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR are pointed toward the record.
Something Deeply Hidden is out now on CD, LP, and digitally through The Lasers Edge — order/stream here.
POLY-MATH will headline the Electromagnetic Fields Festival in Gloucester next weekend, with more live and studio announcements to come.
