UNTITLED WITH DRUMS have released "Oblivious," the third advance single from their upcoming sophomore album, "Made Flesh," due August 21 via Season Of Mist. The song sits between the lucid but powerless clarity of the conscious thinker and a blind, restless drive toward conquest.
Where much of "Made Flesh" operates in close first-person focus, "Oblivious" widens the lens. The single examines a kind of collective paralysis, first called out, then slowly accepted as a quiet admission of insignificance. Within that contrast, the song finds itself almost envying those who simply look away, since facing the state of things means carrying both its wreckage and the weight of one's own unused potential: "Still you are unknown to shame / While I bathed in mine / I gave it my name."
"Made Flesh" maps a free-flowing exploration of the human psyche across ten tracks, following previously released singles "Shame" and "Matter." No strangers to the specialist press or the festival circuit, UNTITLED WITH DRUMS have been together since 2014. The band released its debut album, "Hollow," in 2020, just days before France entered its first COVID-19 lockdown. Despite the timing, the record drew widespread praise and propelled the band to stages including Hellfest, London's Desertfest and the Nuits De Fourviere festival, where they opened for DEFTONES and BARONESS.
"Made Flesh" spans "Above My Head," "Shame," "Matter," "Gray," "Space," "Change For You," "Oblivious," "Parasitic," "Been So High" and "Cry," running 38:44 in total.
