Polish blackened death metal band MIND AFFLICTION are back after a decade-long silence. Their third studio album, "No Future, No Light," arrives August 21, 2026 via Polish label Via Nocturna — and today the band premiere a video for "Niebyt," the record's second single following "Awakening."
Sung in Polish, "Niebyt" translates as "Non-Existence," and the band describe it as a descent with no floor. The track "explores themes of self-despair and an endless cycle of philosophical introspection, gradually leading to the complete dissolution of one's identity," they explain.
The video matches that bleakness with real stone and open sky. It was shot at Rabsztyn Castle, courtesy of the Municipal Culture Centre (MOK) in Olkusz, and was directed, filmed and edited by Maciej Dunin-Borkowski of Tentacles Studio.
Formed in Kraków in 2009, MIND AFFLICTION weld the ferocity and technical precision of death metal to the cold, ominous atmosphere of black metal, stretching the result across progressive structures and dense, multilayered arrangements. After "Pathetic Humanity" in 2013 and "Into The Void" in 2016, the band went quiet — and "No Future, No Light" is the sound of that silence breaking as their darkest and most forceful record to date.
The album trades in crushing riffs, blast-driven percussion and an unrelenting wall of sound, offset by melodic passages and slower, atmospheric stretches that let the pressure build again. Lyrically it maps human collapse, inner decay and existential darkness — a world consumed by chaos and gradual disintegration.
"No Future, No Light" was produced, mixed and mastered by Dominik Burzym at Studio 67, whose credits include CEMETERY OF SCREAM and MORD'A'STIGMATA. Lyrics for "The Architect" were written by Kamil Kamler, band photography comes from Monika Podolska, and the cover artwork and layout are the work of Diana Sawicka — a name Ukrainian listeners will recognise from her work for NOKTURNAL MORTUM and PATRIARKH.
